It is sometimes challenging for shelters to find owners who are willing to adopt older dogs.
Many people are looking for younger dogs or pups so that they can raise themselves, while others simply don’t want to go through the emotional turmoil that comes with having to say goodbye to an older dog after having them for only a few years. Having said that, these kind and gentle old souls are in no way less lovable or endearing than they were before.
They simply require the proper caretaker to look after them. Because of this, one animal shelter came up with the sweetest approach to display their dogs and assist owners in placing their dogs in homes where they may live out the rest of their golden years.
Recently, the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control facility in Phoenix, Arizona held a senior prom for dogs who are at least seven years old. They looked their absolute best in order to make a good impression on prospective adopters!
They even conducted a competition to determine the prom king and queen, in which the dogs had to go down a runway in a fashionable manner.
Even cuter was the fact that each of the lovable dogs brought a date to the prom so they could pose together.
Many thanks to the incredible volunteers who work at the shelter.
And by the end of the day, nine of the puppies had been adopted into their permanent homes!
