The term “man’s best friend” is used a lot to describe the relationship between dogs and people. Based on what dog trainers say and on what vets say, dogs are really man’s best friend.
Three years ago, Max, the dog Osmar Persisco had, jumped in front of burglars and took three bullets in an attempt to stop them from getting into him.
Thieves with guns came up to Persisco and demanded the keys to his truck while he parked it next to Max’s favorite field in Garibaldi, Brazil.
They shot at the 47-year-old, hitting him in the forehead with a bullet.
That’s when Max lost his cool and became angry. Max was furious when he saw that his owner had blood on his forehead. He flew off like a rocket to fight the thieves.
While one of them ran away, Max took over the other. He shot the dog in self-defense.
The robbers shot Max twice in the chest and once in the leg. Max was able to scare them away before they could hurt his owner.
Persisco took the dog to the vet’s office right away. Despite his injuries, Max should be able to get better.
Is your dog willing to die for you? As for Max, he knows the answer.
“If I didn’t have my dog around, they would have killed me,” Persisco told the Toronto Star. “He’s my hero.”
