Seo-yoon is a young little girl with a soft heart for animals in need. Often, she asks her mom to put some food outside their yard just in case a homeless dog or cat passes by. But when she met Baekgu, a homeless Jindo, she knew right away that she wanted to do more than feed it.
Baekgu was only a few months old when she first showed up. She was little, and she wore a red collar. She probably had an owner, but no one knew why she ended up on the streets.
As the dog grew older and bigger, her collar became too small for her. It started to get tight until it got completely embedded in her neck. Surely, she was in agony, but she trusted no one so people failed to help.
Despite her young age, Seo-yoon knew the dog needed medical help. She asked her mom more than a dozen times to bring the pup to the vet. But because her mom couldn’t get close enough, the most that they did was to put pain meds on the dog’s meal to try and manage its pain.
Every day, Seo-yoon, her little sister, and her mom prepare food for Baekgu. They mix it with some vitamins, too. They are happy to look after the pup and the Jindo is grateful for everything they do for her.
One day, as the little girl watched the dog from their balcony, she noticed blood has completely tainted the dog’s neck. She called her mom and they agreed it was time to bring the pup to safety. They sought help and local rescuers did not hesitate to help.
At last, Baekgu made it to the vet’s clinic. She underwent surgery and had the collar removed from her neck. She was lucky because even though the collar caused her a huge wound, it did not put her life at serious risk.
Seo-yoon cried when she thought Baekgu was gone for good. But when her mom took her to the vet’s office to visit her favorite stay dog, she was so happy. And one day, when she woke up with Baekgu in their home, she was ecstatic. The homeless dog she cared for has finally become an official and beloved member of Seo-yoon’s family.
