In the middle of a busy street, Steven Donovan saw a small dog run out into the middle of the road while delivering pizzas.
“I was about to turn onto a major road and I saw him run across the street,” Donovan told The Dodo. “I immediately turned around and went back. I couldn’t just leave the dog out there.”
Donovan was able to find the little guy, and he quickly took him into his car so he wouldn’t be hit. It said his name was Mr. Snickers and that he lived a few miles away. But first, Donovan had to deliver a pizza.
“The dog was really chill,” Donovan said. “He didn’t try and eat the pizza at all.”
Donovan and Mr. Snickers went to the customer’s place to deliver the pizza. Donovan quickly ran up to the house while Mr. Snickers stayed in the car. The customers asked him why he was so late and why he had to leave so quickly, and he told them. Instead of being angry, they thought the whole thing was really cute!
“I told them, ‘I’m sorry your pizza is late; I just had to rescue this dog first,'” Donovan said.
Even though Mr. Snickers lived a long way away from Donovan’s delivery route, he still got a ride from Donovan after he dropped the pizza off. He knew that he could get in trouble with his bosses, but he decided that helping Mr. Snickers was more important in the long run.
“I wouldn’t mind getting fired over this,” Donovan said. “I mean, it’s a dog running in the street. I had to help him.”
When they were in Mr. Snickers’ neighborhood, the dog seemed to know right away where he was and freaked out with excitement.
“He perked up and noticed this was his neighborhood, and he was wagging his tail and getting all excited,” Donovan said.
So, it turns out that Mr. Snickers’ dad had recently moved to a new house, but his tag still had the old address on it. On the other hand, Donovan met some of Mr. Snickers’ old neighbors who said they would take in Mr. Snickers and make sure he was reunited with his father. We don’t know if Mr. Snickers accidentally left his new house, got lost, and tried to go back to his old one.
Thanks to a kind heart, Mr. Snickers is now safe from the busy streets.
