Dogs are man’s best friend, but in this case, the dogs are each others’ best friends too. They are inseparable, even though this Chihuahua and a much bigger Gordon setter are very different in size and one of them has a terrible injury.
As WTVR Richmond says, someone called in to report that someone had been shot in Petersburg, Virginia. The Chihuahua and Gordon setter turned up in that city. It was when animal control officers came that they found out that the Gordon setter had been shot. He was taken to the hospital, but his Chihuahua friend was not happy to see him go alone.
In the words of Jazmis Aponte, an animal control officer, when Jazmis tried to take away the smaller dog’s friend, he charged at her. A police officer says the Gordon setter wasn’t too happy, either. He had a gunshot wound, but he was clearly depressed in the aftermath and must have been missing his best friend.
Jazmis went back to the street again to see if she could find the Chihuahua and bring him inside to cheer up his friend. When she reunited them, Jazmis could see the Gordon setter’s mood improve right away when they were reunited.
Jazmis says that the dogs hadn’t cared for the way they should have. There must have been times when they had to rely on each other, which made their bond even more strong. This time, they’re in a much safer environment. They still have each other to rely on.
