Chewy is a small chihuahua that was barely three months old when he was found inside a restroom in McCarran International Airport. Next to him was a note that was hurriedly written. The content denotes the urgency of the writer to escape a horrifying past. And despite her reluctance to leave her pet, there was nothing else she could do.
Escape
The note started with a backstory. It said that the dog’s owner was in an abusive relationship, and she was in the airport to finally escape. But she didn’t know that she had to pay for the dog’s passage. The abused woman didn’t have any more money on her and couldn’t afford to take her precious pet with her. She added that she didn’t want to leave Chewy, but she had no other choice.
The note then said that the dog was abused by her ex-boyfriend too. During one of their arguments, the cruel man kicked the dog in the head hard, which resulted in a large bump. She then pleaded for someone to take him and care for the tiny pooch. Maybe even take him to a vet.
The dog was surrendered to airport authorities who then called Las Vegas Animal Control. Soon, Chewy was transferred to a foster home, under the care of a kind lady named Patricia Montano.
Adopted
Patricia said that aside from the bruised head, Chewy also suffered some soreness on his jaw. Every time he yawned, he would let out a little scream because of the pain. For several months, she took care of the dog and let him know that he is loved.
News quickly broke out when Chewy was found in the airport restroom. This was followed by a rush of applications for the small dog’s adoption. But they had to wait until the puppy was physically and mentally ready. When that day finally came, he immediately found a loving home with people that vowed to take care of him forever.
