Veterinarians, through their work, are witnesses to horrific incidents while doing their jobs. But this recent patient at the Northern Pike Animal Hospital in Pennsylvania shocked the industry. An 11-pound dog arrived at the clinic with her eyes glued shut.
Upon seeing this, the veterinarians feared that the poor dog might lose her eyesight. However, the vets do not want that to happen that easily. The tiny puppy eventually survived the ordeal through the vets’ help.
But despite this, the incident that the dog underwent left numerous consequences. For one, the dog lost her eyelashes and the hair covering her eyes. The veterinarians tried everything to save these, but they had to act fast.
Angie Thompson, one of the vets who operated the dog, said this was the first time she witnessed a horrible case. According to Angie, when the dog arrived at the clinic, the dog’s condition was unimaginable.
It was a complex case, so Angie had to be assisted by other veterinarians. Before the operation, Angie knew that the procedure would be painful for the dog. This is why they provided the dog anesthesia for her to feel comfortable during the procedure.
It took Angie’s team over three hours to break down the glue on the dog’s eye. This led to the peeling off of all of the dog’s fur.
But despite that, Angie said that what is essential is that the dog is safe. After the treatment, the dog received the name of Baby Girl. This is only temporary until an apt name is given to her by her potential adopter.
After hearing the horrible story that Baby Girl underwent, the local shelter volunteered to look for a foster home for the dog. They likewise kept in touch with the local police officers to track the person responsible for the dog’s condition. Right now, Baby Girl is on the way to full recovery.
